As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) policy, Senegal digital SA is resolutely committed to supporting the Muslim community in the organization of Maouloud, particularly in Tivaouane and Kaolack. The Director General, Cheikh Bakhoum therefore went to Medina Baye and Tivaouane to review the digital system set up in these places of convergence and to present to the respective religious authorities the actions carried out on site in terms of wifi coverage and security through surveillance cameras. New in this edition of Gamou in the city of Seydi El Hadji Malick, the Zawiya Tijane Cell organized a hackathon and made Senegal Numerique one of its major partners.
In Kaolack, the delegation led by Cheikh Bakhoum arrived on the morning of Saturday September 23, 2023 at a time when the teams from Senegal Numerique and its partners are hard at work finalizing the installation of the wifi system around the Great Mosque of Medina Baye.
Strategic locations in the religious cities of Medina Baye and Léona Niassene will be covered with free wifi for the benefit of pilgrims throughout the Maouloud period.
The video surveillance system made available to the defense and security forces is, once again this year, functional in Kaolack and is even reinforced for optimal security of Gamou around Medina Baye, Léona, Touba Ndorong... Packs of fresh water were also given to the Gamou organizing committee set up by the Khalif of Medina Baye. Cheikh Mahi Niasse received and prayed for Cheikh Bakhoum and his delegation while magnifying the far-reaching gesture made by the CEO of Senegal digital by putting these technological solutions at the service of the populations especially for a moment as important as the commemoration of the birth of the Seal of the Prophets.
“The Gamou, which celebrates a multidimensional man, Seydina Mohamed (PSL), is the business of all Muslims in the world, wherever they are. Celebrating it is more than a duty,” argued the Caliph of Medina Baye.
In the afternoon, the Organizing Committee serving Khalifa Ababacar Sy (COSKAS) and the Zawiya Tijane Cell (CEZAT) welcomed the delegation to Tivaouane. On site, the CEO of Senegal Numérique SA presented the company's financial contribution to the CEZAT Hackathon on the theme of “technology at the service of Hadara” and promised annual accommodation to the winners at the Senegal Numérique Datacenter.
Previously, he was received with the entire delegation by Serigne Babacar Sy ibn Serigne Abdoul Aziz Sy Dabakh on behalf of the Khalif General of Tidianes. He notably thanked Sheikh Bakhoum and his delegation for the trip and praised the work carried out in the city of Maodo.
“We thank the Khalif's spokesperson for the prayers expressed to the delegation, society and the Head of State; we came here to Tivaouane on behalf of the President of the Republic, Macky Sall, to bring the score of Senegal Numérique in terms of connectivity and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for the smooth running of the Gamou,” declared Cheikh Bakhoum at the end of his interview with the representative of the Khalif.
In the system deployed in Tivaouane, wifi coverage should be noted in strategic places in the holy city during Gamou. These include the Zawiya El Hadji Malick Sy, the esplanade of the Serigne Babacar Sy Mosque, the Guest Residence and the amphitheater. In these areas, pilgrims will be able to benefit from free wifi throughout the Gamou with increased speed. Packs of water are also distributed to some religious leaders, dignitaries and structures in charge of organizing the Gamou.
