It has been just two years (the law was passed on December 13, 2021 by the National Assembly) that the Agency became a commercial company called Senegal Numerique SA, a limited company 100% owned by the State of Senegal. Since then, the prerogatives of implementing the digital policy defined by the President of the Republic have taken a new direction, with more diversified and expanded missions including the digitalization of public administration, opening to the private sector and sale of value-added digital products and services, adapted to the needs of administrations and focused on the user.

Present alongside his colleagues, the Managing Director of Senegal Numerique, Mr. Bakhoum, was delighted to have blown out a new candle at the head of the company while recalling the progress made: “Senegal Numerique is a company which has enormously assets including quality staff with more than 35 years of experience. We have had several transfers. From the Organization and Methods Office cell to the DIE, in passant by the State IT Agency (ADIE), until today Senegal Numerique SA, it is truly an exceptional journey,” declared the Director General of Senegal Numerique.

Satisfied to have materialized the vision of the President of the Republic Macky Sall, Cheikh Bakhoum once again calls on his colleagues to take on other challenges and invites the population to have more trust in Senegal Numerique SA. “Whether it is hosting services with the latest generation data centers, whether it is connectivity services, we are today entering the space that has until now been occupied only by licensed operators. Today Senegal Numerique provides the ecosystem with nearly 6.000 km of optical fiber, but also an access network which links the entire national territory,” he added.

Before leaving CICES, the Managing Director of Senegal Numerique visited the stands of the Pavillon Brun where he listened to the exhibitors talk about their expertise and achievements. The stands of the regions, the DGID, the Gendarmerie, the Police and the Prison Administration Directorate were visited in particular.
