It seems that many of them were waiting for an initiative like the Senegal Digital Day initiated by Senegal in New York. Held this Tuesday, January 23 in the lair of the prestigious Columbia University, the event recorded the presence as massive as it was diverse of the Senegalese Diaspora with business leaders, professors, students but also American partners interested in the evolution of the digital ecosystem in Senegal.
The potential offered by digital technology was in all the debates and presentations of the first edition of Senegal Digital Day in the American economic capital. Attracting investors, whether Senegalese or Americans, was the key word among the participants. Between panels, networking and other presentations of the Senegalese digital ecosystem and structuring projects from entities such as Senegal Numerique, APIX or PETROSEN, the opportunities to be seized were clearly highlighted.
Which makes Tanya Southerland, former resident director of the Millenium Challenge Corporation in Senegal and today a leading figure of the Mastercard company, say: “the day was excellent due to the quality of the organization and the content. I am very optimistic for the future of the sector and for partnerships capable of promoting the development of technologies in Senegal.”
“It’s a chance for us young people from the diaspora to be able to participate in this Senegal Digital Day which is truly a bridge for us between our current environment and our country of origin,” thunders Abdoulaye, a young cybersecurity engineer who came to participate in Senegal Digital Day with satisfaction.
Online, the live broadcast of the work aroused a lot of interest among Internet users from various backgrounds. This satisfies the Managing Director of Senegal Numerique SA, Cheikh Bakhoum, who will see the participants next year for the second edition.
