July 15, 2020 marked the reopening of Blaise Diagne International Airport for international flights. Opportunity seized by the program Smart Sénégal to launch the test phase of WiFi deployed in this airport area, in partnership with the LIMAK-AIBD-SUMMA (LAS) structure; AIBD manager and Free operator.

Indeed, as part of the Smart Wifi project, included in the program Smart Sénégal, a connectivity system has been deployed within Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD) to meet the requirements of travelers who make internet access in airports an essential satisfaction criterion.

The AIBD regularly conducts passenger satisfaction surveys, which each time emphasize the importance of WiFi. » Moreover, Blaise Diagne International Airport is part of the Ice Q program which puts airports in competition for quality of service. A good wifi network would allow Senegal to improve its score and be better placed in the ranking of African and even global airports.

A dense and powerful WiFi system has been deployed in the different areas of the airport terminal. The State IT Agency has installed the various Access Points (AP) for complete coverage of the airport. The AIBD attendance rate was taken into account to size the equipment and provide optimal connectivity power even during busy times.

Smart Wifi (Konectel) is a project of the Program Smart Sénégal which is part of the digital strategy of the Plan Senegal Emergent (PSE). The objective is to provide an internet connection in the main public places and squares in Senegal with high attendance.
