National Broadband Project

Senegal's national broadband project represents the third phase of execution of the construction of the government intranet infrastructure. It was officially launched in January 2016. The objective of the project was to extend the coverage of the administrative intranet and the construction of a new Datacenter at the urban center of Diamniadio over an area of ​​one hectare (1 ha). The site was opened on July 24, 2017. Completed, the infrastructure was inaugurated on June 22, 2021 by His Excellency the President of the Republic Macky Sall in the company of the General Director of Senegal Numerique SA; Sheikh Bakhoum. This project made it possible to strengthen the administrative Intranet with:

• More than 2500 km of optical fiber deployed
• The deployment of optical fiber in seventeen (17) cities in Senegal spread across ten (10) regions and nineteen (19) departments. The regions concerned are: Dakar, Thiès, Diourbel, Louga, Kaffrine, Fatick, Ziguinchor, Kolda, Saint-Louis and Kaolack
• 386 km of optical fiber deployed for FTTB (Fiber To The Building)
• Interconnection of 362 buildings to the Intranet distributed in 32 administrative structures
• Extension of network transmission capacity to 400 Gbps;
• Transport of digital terrestrial television (DTT);
• Very high speed interconnection of universities and hospitals;
• Connection of Diamniadio's ministerial spheres to the administrative Intranet
• Construction of a new Datacenter in the urban center of Diamniadio over an area of ​​one hectare (1 ha) – In progress –

To significantly increase the extension, resilience and quality of administrative intranet infrastructure, Senegal Numerique launched the project in 2018 Smart Sénégal and in January 2019 the Structural Support Project for the Digital Territorial Development Strategy (PASSANT).
